Boston Spa

The gorge of the Wharfe near Thorp Arch and Boston Spa has been eroded by the river into Magnesian Limestone, which gives a landscape very different from other parts of West Yorkshire. An interpretation board about the local geology can be seen at Deepdale, near Boston Spa. A leaflet explaining the geology of the Boston Spa and Thorp Arch area is now available free from libraries in Boston Spa and Wetherby and is also available for download.
Please note that the permissive path along the river is now closed and some sites are inaccessable.
