SITE DESCRIPTION:
The 500m exposure along the A629 shows features of the Upper Carboniferous
Yeadonian Rough Rock which show how it was deposited in a large delta
system, with
river channels of varying depths. The face is 15 to 30m high, but has
been and benched
and overgrown by trees since the Elland bypass was constructed
HISTORICAL ASSOCIATIONS:
EDUCATIONAL VALUE:
Not suitable for students or members of the public. The site is overgrown
with no safe
access.
However this is an important site which has been described in several
scientific papers.
AESTHETIC CHARACTERISTICS:
ACCESS AND SAFETY:
Site needs risk assessment and provision for safe access. The cutting
can only be safely
viewed from the footpath on the west site of the dual carriageway.
